As a whole the African American Community is seen as this negative thing, but I believe to change this the 4 of many things that can be learned to change everything is writing skills, public speaking skills, teaching, and advertising. This can be used to overcome our oppression because our oppressors are the main people in these roles, and they're spreading lies. We're the only ones experiencing the actual good going on in our community, and for our people to know how to do these four things will help shine light on what really goes on. Most of our people lack the proper knowledge needed to know what is right or wrong though. Most people look up to the villains, and not the heroes, so they're doing wrongs thinking it's fine. This would help us overcome our oppressors because it will help shine on light on what we're capable of.

Ida B Wells did many things bringing upon the wrong doings that were done to blacks. She spread this information across the world. Traveling to different places telling people how our people were being lynched, and the racial discrimination we faced. Ida B Wells worked on many articles through out her life shining light on many things in those times. She became a prominent anti lynching campaigner in the united states, and to show this 4 things are needed. Writing skills, public speaking skills, teaching, and advertising. This help spread the knowledge she gained, and this has and can help things spread more.

To properly use these things is how we can solve our problems. Writing/ Typing skills can help spread the word of the struggles we face at a young age in this day and age. Public speaking is important to be able to show groups, and just normal people what we think. We may be able to use this information to our advantage, but to teach it to others to grow as a people would make our people stronger. These many things can better us, and make us into stronger people.

It is important important for minorities to utlize good writing skills, public speaking skillls, teaching and advertising because minorities were not allowed to receive an education while in slavery. They did not have the right to education. Slaves were considered to be less that the other races.
Fredrick Douglass learned the alphabet when he was around the age of 12 even though teaching him was illegal. He was recognized as being a gifted young boy. He went on to teach other slaves to read and write. He felt it was very important to for blacks to have an education. This showed that even though blacks were once slaves that we rose above our history of being a slave to becoming well educated. We can use the power of education to solve our problems. We need to write our government and have peaceful protest. Not the ones where we tear down our own businesses. Our schools need to be the first topic of discussion.

Fredrick Douglas used his encouraging words as a tool. He was a slave but he after he came out of being a slave he wrote three autobiographies. Not only in his Autobiographies did he used encouraging words he talked about his life. Fredrick talked about his experience and how he struggled as being a slave. Also he talked about all the things he had went through. You can tell that he wanted to inspire others why else would he write those auntobiographies ?
What can teens do? Teens can sit down and listen to what others have to say to them. Dealing with different teens you never know. In this generation you have different personalities. Some kids might need encouraging words to uplift them and encourage them to do better and fix themselves and do something with their lives. Maybe the issues that need to be heard by public speakers and others similar is the struggled they had to deal with to get to where they are. Also maybe they need to hear how they dealt with their goliaths and became who they are today.

It is important for minorities to utilize good writing skills, public speaking skills, teaching and advertising because minorities could not receive an education while in slavery. Fredrick Douglass taught him self even though it was illegal for slaves to learn to read and write. He taught other slaves as well to read and write even though it was not allowed. He felt that it was extremely important for slaves to know how to have an education even if it was outlawed. Showing that even though we were spaces at one point slaves we rose above the injustices and stereotypes of black people and became extremely well educated.
Teeens need to learn how to instead of going straight to fighting to talk the problem out and find a solution that doesn’t involve violence.Issues that need to be heard by public officials, activist and others are the problems in school like the stereotypes, of black people not being smart enough for certain things or that they are all bad or all they do is fight even though these things might have already been heard by them.

Ida B Wells was one of the amazing and inspiring anti-lynching campaigner in the United States.Ida took most of her time to raise national awareness about the unpunished murders. In 1909, Wells had a powerful ally called the NAACP to show up at the speech she did in New York.Due to the lynching record, it gained attraction to the study of Americans.'Midnight Riders' was spreading terror from beating, shooting and killing African Americans from trying to vote.
Wells was the journalist that help other states from the South to know what was going on. During the point of time that the lynching was going on,many states in the North and West to change the law to where no one can get lynched. At time where African Americans were at a disadvantage, there was many activists besides of Ida B Wells that help African Americans to get advantages that they need. Frederick Douglass was an journalist and abolitionist that bring the information about what is happening down south.
The importance of having activists because of the fact that our voice isn't being heard. The political officials doesn't care about what African Americans think because they treat us like we are a second world country of people. African Americans are getting impact due to the choices that the government decides to make. Not at one time that they government ask about any perspective of from African Americans,Latinos/Latinas, or other races except for their own. In this generation, we are having social issues and violence that goes around. Thinking that the police department will help us but we have to be careful with them because of the verdict of Laquan McDonald. Some African Americans wants to blame it on the white man however we are being mean and cruel to our own people.

It is important for minorities to utilize writing skills because it opens up a new network passageway to expand and explore the culture they are in, and also use the system that is put against minorities against the oppressor themselves. If you have great writing skills; your comprehension and vocabulary expands vastly.
Public speaking also plays a significant role in over coming oppression by having great enunciation with words and higher vocabulary to show the person’s intellect. Teaching and advertising is a key to stop oppression by passing and showing wisdom that one person has learned from there lifetime to the next person, so it can be addition of knowledge that can be used as a weapon of oppression. Knowledge is power.
Fredrick Douglass use the skills above as a tool of liberation to show the way slavery degraded slaves, but also to show the way the thought of slavery degraded slave masters. He used his way of words, wisdom, and knowledge to prove a strong belief he had right.
Teens can follow their personal hobbies, talents, or any activity that is productive and advance black culture in a positive spotlight.
The issues that need to be heard by public officials is the fact that we, as African-Americans, are behind as of 400 years in this society. By this I mean, African-American are just now getting recognized as American citizens. Even still today, there are still some mishaps dealing with the black youth. A majority of black males are seen as a “threat” to society; this idea furthers into the actions of a white police officer killing our black men. The only time a white police officer has been caught for his crime was with the case: McDonald V.s. Van Dyke.
Aside from ethnicity, gender also plays a big role in society. Men are always seem more dominant and superior to a woman. Women were stereotyped as to only cook, clean, and take care of the children. Even though women are taking independence to the next level, there are still some set backs. The main one of the mix is assault. I watched a video about one person asking a males and females one question: “What do you do to prevent yourself from being sexually assaulted?” The male responses were nervous chuckles and really no answer. On the contrary when it was the females turn to answer, every hand went up. There were some answers that said “I cover most of my body so men won’t get aroused” or “I cannot be outside by myself at night”. This is a shame that women cannot be themselves or wear what they want because guys can not handle themselves. Women shouldn’t be looked at as property, neither should men.

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in 1818 in Talbot County, Maryland, and is famous for intellectuals he wrote. Douglass advised presidents and lectured to thousands of people on women’s rights and Irish home rule. Douglass always used his writings to declare a point or make something known. Douglass wrote multiple autobiographies about his experience in slavery and his life after the Civil War. He also spoke strong among blacks and really covered how they were treated during slavery. To escape slavery Frederick Douglass disguised as a free black sailor to really get away. Being free from slavery opened many doors for Douglass to take his journalism really far. Now that he was free he was able to publish and write his articles more adequately. Douglass’s main reason of writing was to bring slavery and diversity to an end. He established and participated in movements to help his purpose be relevant and bring slavery and diversity to an end. Douglass saw America strong in diversity and free of discrimination. He was mainly known for being an abolitionist, human rights and women’s rights activist, orator, author, journalist, publisher, and social reformer. But, in all Frederick Douglass used journalism to get things that were going on and what he had been through out to the public. Mainly slavery, but sadly Douglass died on February 20th,1895. With a legacy behind his name of the work he did to bring slavery and diversity to an end in the United States of America.

Its is important minorities utilize writing skills Good writing consists of words that are clear and accessible to the people. Writing is to communicate with others through words, figurative language, literally devices. It also makes your points quickly because people today like to do a lot and never get to the point. If you have good writing skills that mean you vocabulary academics and social academics are good. Public speaking is to show our intelligence with how we can enunciate our words correctly. Public speaking is important in society because communication is a essential factor in forming connections and trust with the audience. Without communication skills it would be very hard to get your point across & make statements, there would be no kind of world progress without communication . It is also important to have public speaking skills because if you are trying to win over a crowd you need to have some form of persuasion keeping a calm cool and collected presence while keeping the crowd attentive and engaging. A public speaker also obtains the ability to motivate their audience . As a public speaker you must have the abilities to influence your listeners and create an environment where everyone goes out on track.
Finally teaching and advertising helps stop oppression because it helps other people learn say someone with knowledge gives someone with less knowledge some of there’s and they would be passing it on. Knowledge can be used as a weapon. Teaching and advertising helps by giving one person wisdom and knowledge from what they learned from life and giving it to someone new to build off of it. Wisdom is key. Teens can talk to a counselor to let things out or someone who would listen. The issue that need to be heard is that people are getting put down cause of how they look.Frederick used the tools above as a pathway to give a vivid description of any situation of slaves to prove why slavery shouldn’t exist.

Ida B Wells Lynch Law shows how cruel a white person was to a black person. An African American person can be seen as a criminal and white people would just kill us off with no problem. “This law continues in force to-day in some of the oldest states of the Union, where courts of justice have long been established, whose laws are executed by white Americans”. This was a difficult time for African Americans because they had a hate crime against them. White people can have the right to kill any and every black person they see. Yet when a black person kills off a white person in maybe self-defense they get killed.
African American lives are being thrown aside as if they are nothing. The mob actions happen with brutal and outrageous violence. They police and the government did nothing about it but step to the side. “The sheriffs, police, and state officials stand by and see the work done well”. Men, women and children have suffered for decades because of these mobs.
There are so many crimes black people were charged with. Such as “Rape, murder, robbery, incendiarism, burglary, race prejudice, quarreling with whites etc… and these crimes were just not true. These crimes were put on blacks just to use force because they don’t wanna be seen as a monster or more. African American are dying every time a mob happens. They were also charged for rioting because of cruel behavior.
Children were killed because of so much violence that white people were using against them. In 1886 a white woman was killed by poisoning and her black cook was taken into jail because was rat poisoning was found in her bedroom.”When the mob had worked itself to the lynching pitch, she was dragged out of jail, every stitch of clothing torn from her body, and she was hung in the public court-house square in sight of everybody.” She didn’t even get a fair trial and they knew she didn’t do it. They hung her in the court house square for everyone to see as an example the other African American people.

It’s important for minorities to utilize writing skills, public speaking skills, teaching, and advertising to overcome their oppression because first off, writing is the primary basis of communication, record keeping and history. Second, public speaking is the key to having a functioning society, without it everything would be nearly impossible. Thirdly, teaching and advertising is a important mechanism in the society because without it we wouldn’t be able to carry on information and the significance to the next generation.

Fredrick Douglas, a survivor of slavery became a spokesperson after escaping slavery and then began to use his stimulating words to tell his story of being a slave and try to get his words across and assist the abolitionist. He used his provoking words through three autobiography he wrote telling people his life and what he went through while being a slave. Douglass’s life, from slavery to statesman inspired many topics of discussion in debate within the lines of African American history.

This generation is manipulated with using violence to solve all problems it’s become such a problem that African American has been known for using violence for the past six years, which mean for us to stop this predicament, we must find a way to stop this, a suggestion that could help us by trying to gather African American teens and bring them together and teach them how to not use violence against each other, or have most teens to create a group where they tell how they feel instead of killing each other. To follow, issues that need to be heard by public officials is how people of all age of the African American race are at higher rate of death due to gun violenc.

It is important for minorities to utilize writing skills because every minority that works or go to school will always be taking notes in class or during a session. It will also help minorities when they start writing or typing essays for school and writing emails, memos, letters, and reports. To do these it requires good writing skills and the importance of this is communication, so that you can be able to communicate with your workers and piers adequately. Not only is it important to utilize writing skills but it’s also important for minorities to utilize public speaking skills. This is important because it also benefits minorities by helping them speak more clearly and form connections. If someone is giving a speech and they pronounce something wrong that could be very humiliating and could show lack of grammar skills and ect. It will also benefit minorities to present very well and get good credits.

Furthermore, it is also important for minorities to utilize teaching because first and foremost minorities education is highly important. Not only is our education important but we will need a job and without a education you can't get hardly anywhere. Minorities who have low income will need their education so they won't have to pay for college because they could get scholarships or ect. Also minorities that's being teached their students the engaged in the work will increase their focus and attention. This will motivate them to want to learn more and do more challenging things. Minorities could overcome difficult assignments by studying the subject that their lacking in. They could also overcome difficult assignments by asking for help when needed and taking your notes accordingly.

To solve teens problems they could focus on the issue instead of the person and their emotions. Then they won't suffer from depression or ect. Set alarms for school to be ready to get that lesson and take notes. Also if there's a problem first identify it then talk about the outcome your trying to get and then approach the problem or situation but with a positive mindset and attitude. Teens should be practicing their reading skills and math problems of all kinds. Issues that need to be heard by public officials, activists, and others is how teens have to wake up early in the morning for school. Also tardy marks being tallied up together to make absences because I feel that if a student is late for school that on them at least they got to school though. I feel that we should only be marked for present and absent because if your late and you missed something that's on you ask a friend. I don't think it should just be on us and then mess up our attendance because sometimes the cta busses may run late.

Ida B. Wells used the above as a tool of liberation by fighting against prejudice no matter what the consequences or hardships were going to be. Ida B. Wells was an African-American journalist. She was a abolitionist and feminist who led an anti-lynching crusade in the United States in the 1890’s. She also wrote articles about how they were in the wrong for killing her friend and many other African Americans. One of her quotes is “one had better die fighting against injustice than to die like a dog or a rat in a trap.” This quote is very strong and powerful because she didn't want to give up and die without fighting for what was right. The photo above shows pain but Ida never stopped she kept going.

It is important for minorities to utilize writing skills because it prepares us to be better in our writing skills. It's important to utilize our public speaking because it shows that we have more to offer then just how people around the world thinks about your race in general. Its important for us to utilize our teaching skills because everybody have something different to offer so therefore you can teach others you way which is different from there way.Its advertising the overcome of oppression because it demonstrates what the outcome would look like.
Frederick douglass used his speaking skill in way to persuade the others to see his point of view. His words was a way he used to express the way he felt and within a way they could understand without disrespecting them.He used his teaching skills in a way to help his people gain the knowledge that they needed. Frederick risked his own life for his people that was suffering in order to try and make his and their life better.Time from time he would go to different places to speak about how important it is for freedom. He used his voice to be heard for more than just himself he helped others cries be heard and prayers and answered.

Media literacy is a significant way to challenge students to understand the constructed nature of media representations and how that might influence their own beliefs about themselves and others.A representation is a constructed message about reality that can influence viewers’ attitudes and beliefs about the real world. watching issues of representation in the media teaches students to be critical when encountering representations that often include stereotypes about gender, race, class, sexuality, and disability. Students become more aware about the complexity of representations they encounter in the media and gain a multifaceted understanding of their fabrication.
